Dear Sir
I am writing to bring attention to a matter of significant concern for mobile phone users in Bangladesh, particularly those from lower-income backgrounds, students, and unemployed individuals. The recent decision by Grameenphone to increase the minimum recharge limit to Tk 30, up from Tk 20, poses a considerable challenge for a large segment of the population.
Mobile phones have become an integral part of our daily lives, serving as a crucial means of communication, especially in emergencies. The decision to raise the minimum recharge limit creates an undue burden on individuals with financial constraints, limiting their ability to recharge in urgent situations. Moreover, this decision affects not only low-income citizens but also students and unemployed youth who often face budgetary restrictions.
I would like to urge the concerned authorities, particularly the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), to reconsider and withdraw the minimum recharge limit. This move would be a positive step towards ensuring that mobile phone services remain accessible and affordable for all citizens, aligning with the principles of fairness and inclusivity.
In conclusion, I believe that the withdrawal of the minimum recharge limit will not only address the immediate concerns of mobile phone users but also contribute to a more equitable and consumer-friendly telecommunications environment in Bangladesh.
