Trawler collision in Patuakhali: Man's body recovered 11 hours after

The body of a man, who went missing after a head-on collision between two trawlers in Agun-Mukha river at Galachipa upazila in Patuakhali district Tuesday night, was recovered after 11 hours on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Abdus Salam, 40, a trader by profession.
Galachipa Police Station officer-in-charge Ferdous Rahman confirmed the matter, adding that the incident took place in the Agun-Mukha River around 7:00pm on Tuesday.

Quoting witnesses, Char Biswas Union Parishad member Sayem Gazi said two trawlers collided head-on in Agun-Mukha river near to the Payra sea port of the upazila. 

Six people out of seven traveling in the trawlers were able to swim ashore but Abdus Salam went missing.

Later, his body was caught in a fisherman's net around 6:00am on Wednesday and then, locals informed police.

Being informed, police recovered the body and took to Galachipa Police Station.

OC Ferdous said that a case h was filed in this regard and the body was sent to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Legal action would be taken in this regard, added the OC.
