Four killed, five injured in road mishaps

Four people including a schoolgirl have been killed and five others injured in separate road accidents in three districts- Mymensingh, Natore and Barishal, in three days.
MYMENSINGH: Two people were killed in separate road accidents in Nandail and Gafargaon upazilas of the district on Friday and Saturday.
An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was killed in a road accident in Nandail Upazila of the district on Saturday.
The accident took place in Bahadurpur area under the upazila at around 11 am.
The deceased was identified as Nur Ahmed, 45, son of Hafizur Rahman, a resident of Pulihati Village under Madan Upazila in Netrakona District. He was an ASI of Nandail Police Station (PS).
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nandail PS Md Abdul Mazid said Nur Ahmed was going to Char Betagoir area riding on his motorcycle in the morning. On the way, the motorcycle rammed into a microbus coming from opposite direction in Bahadurpur area in the morning, which left him dead on the spot.
Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and seized the both vehicles, however, the microbus driver managed to escape from the scene, said the OC.
Legal action would be taken in this regard, the OC added.
Meanwhile, a college student, who sustained injuries in a road accident on the Bhaluka-Gafargaon-Kishoreganj highway in Gafargaon Upazila of the district on Thursday, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Friday evening.
The deceased was identified as Yeasin Arafat, 20, son of Shahabuddin, a resident of Kharua Mukunda Village under Raona Union in the upazila.
According to the deceaseds family members, Yeasin faced the tragic accident on the highway in front of Shapnapuri Restaurant in Salatia Union of the upazila on Thursday, which left him critically injured.
Locals rescued the injured and took him to Gafargaon Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor referred him to the DMCH following his deteriorated condition.
Later on, he succumbed to his injuries at the DMCH on Friday evening while undergoing treatment there.
Local Union Parishad Chairman Shahabul Alam confirmed the matter.
BARAIGRAM, NATORE: A man was killed and five others were injured in a triangle collision among a bus, truck, and motorcycle in Baraigram Upazila of the district on Thursday.
The accident took place on the Hatikumrul-Banpara highway in Mohishbhanga area in the afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Omar Faruk, 32, son of Darad Zaman, hailed from Sirajganj District.
Police and local sources said a bus of Hanif Paribahan hit a motorcycle from behind and stopped on the mid-road, which left motorcyclist Faruk dead on the spot.
At the same time, a goods-laden truck hit the bus from behind and left five passengers of the bus injured.
Being informed, police recovered the body.
The injured were rescued and taken to neighbouring hospital.
The law enforcers, however, seized the bus and the truck from the scene.
Bonpara Highway PS OC Habibur Rahman confirmed the incident, adding that legal steps would be taken in this regard.
BARISHAL: A schoolgirl was killed after being hit by a trolley in Wazirpur Upazila of the district on Thursday noon.
The accident took place in Sakral area of the upazila at around 2:45 pm.
The deceased was identified as Nusrat Akhter, 12, daughter of Sohrab Hawlader, a resident of Paramananda Saha area in the upazila. She was a sixth grader at Abdul Majid High School in Sakral area.  
Head Teacher of Abdul Majid High School Md Akkas Ali said Nusrat was returning home from the school at noon. On the way, a bricks-laden trolley hit Nusrat, leaving her dead on the spot.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
However, the law enforcers have seized the trolley, but its driver managed to flee the scene.
Agitated locals block the road soon after the accident. Police, later, brought the situation under control.  
Wazirpur Model PS OC Jafar Ahmed confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are trying to arrest the driver of the trolley and necessary steps would be taken in this regard.
