Five members of a family sustained burn injuries as miscreants set their house on fire in Dhaka's Keraniganj early Tuesday.

Aminul Islam, additional superintendent of police, said around 4am, miscreants set the house of one Julhas on fire by pouring petrol.

They also locked the main door from the outside.

Julhas along with his two children and two other family members sustained burn injuries in the fire.

Hearing screams for help, neighbours rushed in and rescued them.

On information, a fire-fighting unit went to the spot and extinguished the fire.

The injured were taken to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

Police are trying to arrest the arsonists, said Aminul Islam.
