An SSC examinee died and two others were injured after being crushed by a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Mymensingh's Haluaghat upazila on Wednesday.

The accident happened around 2 pm in Miligate area on the Haluaghat-Mymensingh regional highway.
Deceased Md Tamim, son of Mujibur Rahman, hailed from Kharma area of the upazila, was an SSC candidate from Kharma BKK High School.

The injured are Ratul, 16, and Liton, 16, residents of the same area. They have been sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.

According to eyewitnesses, the three were going towards Haluaghat town riding on a motorcycle around 2 pm. At that time, when they reached in that area, an auto-rickshaw in front of their motorcycle stopped suddenly to pick up passengers. Their motorcycle collided the back of the auto-rickshaw and all three fell on the road. Meanwhile, a Haluaghat-bound CNG-powered auto-rickshaw crushed them from behind and ran away. Tamim died on the spot and his two friends were injured.

Eyewitnesses also said they were not injured even though they fell from the motorcycle on the road. If another CNG had not crushed them from behind, there would have been no loss of life.

Mymensingh's Haluaghat Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police Sagar Sarker said legal action is under process in this regard.
