Suspected thief killed in Bhanga lynch-mob attack

A suspected thief was killed in a lynch-mob attack in Faridpur's Bhanga upazila on Thursday morning.

The incident took place around 3 am at Bhadrakanda village under Nashirabad union of the upazila.
Deceased Israfil Sheikh, 40, was a resident of Khatra village under Kaulibera union of the upazila.

According to police and locals, the suspected thief broke the lock of local one Zakir Molla's house around 3 am and started stealing. The imam of local mosque, who was sleeping in the next room, sensed the presence of the thief and announced matter to the people around with the mic of the mosque.

Later, the villagers gathered and chased Israfil in a garden and beat him up. Israfil died on the spot.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

Bhanga Police Station officer-in-charge Mamunur Rashid confirmed the news.
