Two people, including a sexagenarian woman and a child, were killed in separate road accidents at Sundarganj upazila in Gaibandha district on Thursday.
The accidents took place between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
The deceased were identified as Hasina Begum, 62, and Mahfuza Akter Sima, 5.
Police said Hasina died on the spot after a motorcycle hit her around 3:00 pm while she walking in Panchgachi area. On the other hand, a sand-laden tractor hit Sima in Sundarganj municipal area at around 1:00 pm, leaving her also dead on the spot.
Sundargaj Police Station officer-in-charge Mahbub Alam Rana said they detained the tractor driver, however, the motorcyclist managed to flee the scene.
Two separate cases were filed in this regard with the police station, the OC added.
