Four killed in separate road mishaps

Four people have been killed and three others injured in separate road accidents in three districts- Kurigram, Dinajpur and Chattogram, in three days.
BHURUNGAMARI, KURIGRAM: A man and his son were killed in a road accident in Bhurungamari Upazila of the district on Sunday morning.
The deceased were identified as Shahidul Islam, 48, and his son of Biplob, 25, residents of Sarkartari Village under Kochakata Union in Nageshwari Upazila of the district.
According to local sources, Shahidul Islam along with his son was returning home from Bhurungamari in the morning riding on a motorcycle. On the way, the motorcycle rammed into a shallow-engine run three-wheeler (nosimon) amid dense fog in Pateshwari area of the upazila, which left Shahidul dead on the spot and Biplob critically injured.
Locals rescued the injured and took him to Bhurungamari Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared Biplob dead upon their arrival.
Being informed, police recovered the bodies.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhurungamari Police Station (PS) Ruhul Amin confirmed the incident, adding that the accident might have occurred due to the dense fog.
BIRAMPUR, DINAJPUR: A man was killed and his three assistants were injured as a truck overturned after losing its control over the steering amid dense fog in Birampur Upazila of the district on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as the driver of the truck Md Rubel, 44, son of Loti Mungulur, a resident of Baroil Mollapara area under Sadar Upazila in the district.
The injured persons are: Nur Nabi, 25, Mostafizur Rahman, 48, and Shafiqul Islam, 18.
Quoting locals, Birampur PS OC Subrata Kumar said the truck was heading towards Sherpur in Bogura from Dinajpur at night. On the way, the truck overturned on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj highway as its driver lost control over the steering of the vehicle when he tried to save a motorbike which was not in sight due to the dense fog. The driver of the truck and his three associates fell under the vehicle at that time, which left all the four critically injured.
Later on, the Fire Service personnel rescued the injured and took them to Birampur Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared Rubel dead, said the OC.
Being informed, police recovered the body.
Legal action would be taken in this regard, said the OC, adding that the injured are undergoing treatment at the Upazila Health Complex.
CHATTOGRAM: A motorcyclist was killed after being crushed by a truck in Fatikchhari Upazila of the district on Friday afternoon.
The accident took place in Kalaiyartek area under Bhujpur Union of the upazila at around 3 pm.
The deceased was identified as Islam Enam, 24, son of Moazzem Hossain Kala Mia, a resident of Khaiyachhara Dholu Tea Garden area in the upazila.
Local Union Parishad (UP) Member Mohammad Sohel Munsi said a truck hit a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction in Kalaiyartek area and crushed its rider Enam, leaving him dead on the spot.
On information, police rushed to the scene and recovered the body as well as seized the killer truck, the UP member added.
However, necessary steps would be taken in this regard, said police sources.
