Cold-hit people get blankets in 8 districts

Blankets were distributed among the cold-hit poor people in eight districts- Panchagarh, Naogaon, Mymensingh, Bhola, Gazipur, Rangamati, Rajshahi and Dinajpur, in four days.  
PANCHAGARH: Under the banner of Tarunya Garbe Panchagarh, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Central Committee President Saddam Hussain distributed blankets among the cold-hit destitute people as a gift from the honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the ground of Dhulajhari Girls High School in Shaladanga Union of Debiganj Upazila.
Five hundred helpless people of the union were given the blankets as the gifts on Sunday afternoon.
Shaldanga Union Awami League (AL) President Roknuzzaman Chowdhury, its General Secretary (GS) Abdul Majed Sarkar, Joint GS Asaduzzaman Asad, Union AL Organizational Secretary and former Zilla Parishad member Harun Or Rashid, Shaldanga Union Unit President of BCL Sumant Roy, its GS Tarek Khairuzzaman, and former GS Abdur Razzak Ranju along with leaders and activists of AL and its associate bodies were also present during the distribution.
The speakers said, none of you are helpless and miserable. Under the initiative of BCL President Saddam Hussain, blanket distribution programme as a warm gift is continuing in 20 unions and 2 municipalities of Boda and Debiganj upazilas in the district on behalf of the honourable Prime Minister.
PORSHA, NAOGAON: Blankets were distributed among 30 cold-hit poor people in Porsha Upazila of the district on Sunday.
Christian Commission For Development in Bangladesh (CCDB), a voluntary organization, organized the distribution programme on No. 3 Chhaor Union Parishad (UP) complex premises in the upazila. Porsha Upazila Coordinator of the organization Steve Roy Rupon presided over the programme financed by Bred for the World Germany, an international aid agency.
Chhaor UP Chairman Mostafizur Rahman attended the programme as the chief guest.
UP secretary, ward members, deputy assistant agricultural officer and CCDB activists, among others, were also present at the programme.
MYMENSINGH: Blankets were distributed among about 3,500 cold-hit destitute people at different areas in the city.
Mymensingh City Corporation (MCC) Mayor Md Ikramul Haque Titu distributed these blankets among the needy people on Saturday.
About 600 blankets were given to Kristapur Government Primary School in the city, 1,600 to Muktijoddha residents, 800 to Patgudam Dullul Camp and 550 to Town Hall.
MCC Councillors Md Kamal Khan and Sheetal Sarkar, City Juba League Convener Shahinur Rahman along with Bangladesh AL leaders of Mymensingh, and local journalists, among others, were present during the distribution.
BHOLA: Blankets were distributed among the cold-hit helpless people in Monpura and Lalmohan upazilas of the district on Friday and Saturday.
Poor people were given blankets at a programme held on Monpura Upazila AL office premises on Saturday.
Alhaj Abdullah Al Islam Jakob, MP, distributed the blankets among the needy people there in the afternoon as the chief guest.
Monpura Upazila Parishad Chairman and Upazila AL President Selina Akhter Chowdhury, Upazila AL GS and Sadar UP Chairman Md Jakir Hossain, Upazila Juba League President and Hazirhat UP Chairman Md Nizamuddin Hawlader, Upazila Juba League GS Moniruzzaman Monir, Dakshin Sakuchia UP Chairman Oli Ullah Kajol, former Monpura UP chairman Md Alauddin Hawlader, and Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad Deputy Commander and Hazirhat Union AL President Freedom Fighter (FF) Abul Kashem Matabbar, among others, were also present during the distribution.
On the other hand, blankets were distributed among the cold-hit people in Char Kachuakhali area in Lalmohan Upazila of the district on Friday.
Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shawon, MP, from Bhola-3 Constituency, attended the distribution programme virtually as the chief guest.
President of Lalmohan Foundation Dhaka Professor Md Hasan presided over the programme.
GS of the foundation Mosle Uddin Rifat, Senior Vice-President Mia Mostafa Kamal, Vice-Principals Fazlul Qader and Nurul Amin Masud, and Organizing Secretary Md Ali Sabuj, among others, were also present during the distribution.
KALIGANJ, GAZIPUR: Blankets were distributed among more than 200 cold-hit people of Kaliganj Upazila in the district on Saturday.
Kaliganj Branch of Mutual Trust Bank (MTB) organized the distribution programme on Kaliganj Womens Degree College Premises in the upazila at noon.
Principal of the college Muhammad Nazmul Islam, local ward councillor Md Badal Hossain, journalist Abdur Rahman Arman, Manager of Kaliganj Branch of MTB Md Rashedul Hasan Chowdhury, its Deputy Manager Mohammad Shahinul Haque, and officials Md Shamimul Ahsan, Md Sazzad Hossain and Md Saiful Islam, among others, were also present during the distribution.  
RANGAMATI: District Police distributed blankets among more than 500 cold-hit poor people on Kotwali Police Station (PS) premises in the town on Saturday.
Rangamati Superintend of Police (SP) Mir Abu Tauhid distributed these blankets among the needy people as the chief guest.
Additional SP (ASP) (Administration and Finance) Maruf Ahmed, ASP (Crime and Operation) Mohammad Shah Imran, ASP (DSB) Shahnewaz Raju, ASP (Sadar Circle) Md Jahedul Islam and Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali PS Mohammad Ali, among others, were also present at that time.   
RAJSHAHI: A total of 700 helpless people of Ward No. 14 and 15 under Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) were given blankets on Friday.
RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, as the chief guest, distributed the blankets among those cold-hit needy people at a programme on Shaheed AHM Qamruzzaman Government Degree College premises in the city at around 3:30 pm.    
Boalia PS (West) Unit GS of AL Shamsuzzaman Ratan, RCC Ward No. 14 Councillor Anwar Hossain Anar, City Juba League Joint GS Taurid Al Masud Roni, Ward No. 14 (East) AL GS Taukir Uddin Khan Khaleq, and Ward No. 26 (West) AL President Abdul Kader, among others, were also present at the programme.
GHORAGHAT, DINAJPUR: Blankets were distributed among the cold-hit people in Ghoraghat Upazila of the district on Thursday.
Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rafiqul Islam distributed a total of 240 blankets among the selected cold-hit destitute people in every unions of the upazila in the afternoon.
Upazila Project Implementation Officer Azizur Rahman, Ghoraghat Sadar UP Secretary Pradwip Kumar Roy, and UP Member Harun Ar Rashid, among others, were also present during the distribution.
