Bangladesh Under-19 bowler Maruf Mridha has been reprimanded for violating Level-1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the ICC U19 Mens Cricket World Cup match against India in Bloemfontein on January 20, as confirmed by an ICC media release on Wednesday.

Mridha was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which pertains to "using language, actions, or gestures that disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match."

In consequence, one demerit point has been added to Mridhas disciplinary record, marking his first offense within a 24-month period.

The incident transpired in the 44th over of Indias innings when, following the dismissal of the batter, Mridha pointed aggressively to the changing room twice, offering a provocative send-off.

Mridha admitted the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by Shaid Wadvalla of the Emirates International Panel of ICC Match Referees. Consequently, a formal hearing was deemed unnecessary.

The charge was leveled by on-field umpires Donovan Koch and Nigel Duguid, with support from third umpire Allahudien Paleker and fourth umpire Langton Rusere.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a players match fee, and one or two demerit points.
