Cold-hit people get winter clothes in three districts

Winter clothes were distributed among the cold-hit poor people in three districts- Panchagarh, Gazipur and Chattogram, in two days.
PANCHAGARH: Blankets were distributed among the cold-hit destitute people in the district on Monday and Tuesday.
Under the banner of Tarunya Garbe Panchagarh, President of Central Committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Saddam Hussain distributed blankets among 1,200 helpless people in Benghari Bangram, Maidandighi and Chandanbari unions of Boda Upazila in the district on Tuesday as a gift from the Honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Upazila Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Rabiul Alam Sabul along with leaders and activists of AL and its affiliated organizations were present at that time.
Receiving a blanket as a warm gift brings smile to many faces. Many people prayed and blessed for the Honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Saddam Hussein. Many are overwhelmed with emotion.
On the other hand, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) distributed blankets among the poor, helpless and distressed people of the district on Monday.
These winter clothes were distributed at Kholapara Government Primary School ground jointly initiated by 18 BGB battalion and Border Guard Thakurgaon Hospital.
At that time, 18 BGB Captain Lt Col Jubayed Hasan was present and distributed these blankets among more than 300 people at a programme conducted by Assistant Director of Panchagarh 18 BGB Battalion Jamal Uddin.
Border Guard Thakurgaon Hospital Captain Rashedul Haque, among others, was also present on the occasion.
Captain Jubayed Hasan said, "BGB is working as a vigilant guard of the border. BGB has been with the people in the past, is present and will be in the future. In continuation of this, blankets are being jointly distributed as winter clothes in Panchagarh."
KALIGANJ, GAZIPUR: Warm clothes were distributed among 250 freedom fighters in Kaliganj Upazila of the district on Tuesday.
In addition, these winter clothes were distributed among a total of 650 people from Kaliganj Municipality, Tumlia, Bakhtarpur, Jangalia, Moktarpur, Jamalpur and Bahadursadi unions of the upazila.
Gazipur-5 constituency MP Freedom Fighter Akhtaruzzaman was present as the chief guest at the programme organized by the upazila administration at Shaheed Moyezuddin Auditorium in the afternoon.
Kaliganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Azizur Rahman presided over the programme where Freedom Fighter KBM Mofizur Rahman Khan, district AL leader Advocate Ashrafi Mehedi Hasan, UP Chairman Abubakar Mia Bakku, Abdul Gani Bhuiyan, Atiqur Rahman Faruk, municipal councillors Afsar Hossain and Badal Hossain spoke.
Among others, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Umme Hafsa Nadia, former freedom fighter commander Mustafa Mia, Secondary Education Officer Noor-e-Jannat, Project Implementation Officer Abul Kalam Azad, Social Service Officer Shahadat Hossain, Cooperative Officer Ataur Rahman were present at that time.
CHATTOGRAM: Under the initiative of the Proctorial Body of International Islamic University of Chattogram (IIUC), blankets were distributed among the low-income cold-stricken people in the area adjacent to the university on Monday.
IIUC Proctor English Department Assistant Professor Md Iftekhar Uddin, Assistant Proctor ETE Department Assistant Professor Md Mostafa Amir Faisal, Assistant Proctor Business Administration Department Md Amjad Hossain, Assistant Proctor CSE Department Assistant Professor Md Khorshed Ali, Assistant Proctor Business Administration Department Lecturer Maruful Islam, Assistant Proctor ETE Department Lecturer Md Mohsin and other members of IIUC Proctoral Body, among others, were also present at the time.
