6 family members burnt in N'ganj fire

Six members of a family suffered burn injuries in fire caused by gas line leackage in Naryanganj's Siddhirganj on Wednesday night.
The injured were admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. Of them, one named Rahina Akhter were admitted to the ICU of the hospital with 45 per cent burns.
The injured are Shukhi Akter, 33, her daughter Sadia Akter, 10, her sister Jannati Akter, 18, brother Arif Hawlaer, 21, cousin Rahima Akhter, 32; and Rahima's daughter Writu Akter, 13.
One injured named Rony Hawlader, said some relatives of Shukhi Akhter, who gave birth to a child 16 to 17 days ago, came to her house at Baghpara area to see her newly-born baby. Suddenly, around 10pm, their tin-shed house caught fire.
The fire might have caused from gas line or mosquito coil. It is not clear yet, Rony added.
Toriqul Islam, resident doctor of the burn unit, said the relatives of the injured took them to the hospital. One Rahima has been kept at the ICU.
