Youth killed in Jatrabari road accident

A youth was killed and another was injured after being run over by a police van in Bhangapress area of Jatrabari in the capital on Thursday night.

The deceased was Roman, 30, hailed from Sadar Upazila of Bhola. He used to live Matuail Nimtoli area of Jatrabari where he worked at a carton manufacturing factory.

The injured was Marium, 25.

Sub-Inspector of Jatrabari Police Station Mizanur Rahman said the accident occurred when the two were crossing the road through a gap left in the road divider on the expressway in Demra when a car operated by the Public Order Management (POM) division of police ran over them at around 10pm on Thursday.
The injured were brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where Roman died around 2am while undergoing treatment, said Inspector Md Bachchu Mia, in-charge of the DMCH Police Outpost.
