Stronger efforts to bring Tarique Rahman, other convicts back to BD: Law minister

Brahmanbaria, Jan , 26:  Law Minister Anisul Huq has said that the government plans to strengthen the legal framework to bring back all those, who were sentenced by the courts of Bangladesh, including BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman.

He told this while responding to a question from journalists on Akhaura railway station premises in Brahmanbaria on Friday.
The Minister is currently on a two-day visit in his Brahmanbaria-4 (Kasba-Akhaura) Constituency.

Concerning the letter from 12 US senators about Nobel laureate Dr Muhammad Yunuss trial procedure, the law minister said Dr Yunus was sentenced to six months in jail for violating labour laws.

He said, "Based on my review of the case documents, the trial was conducted fairly in line with the provisions of the law."
Law Secretary Golam Sarwar, Akhaura Upazila Awami League President Md Ali Chowdhury, General Secretary Takzil Khalifa, and party leaders and activists were present there.
