BNPs black flag march in city today

The BNP will hold black flag march today (Saturday) protesting against sky-rocketing of commodity prices, demanding release of all party leaders and activists including BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and annulment of the 12th parliament.

A BNP press release issued on Friday said BNP leaders and activists will start procession from in front of the party central office in Naya Paltan at 2:00pm.

Along with BNP Standing Committee members and senior leaders all BNP activists will attend the procession.

The processions of the Nationalist Alliance and LDP will start at 11:00am from in front of the National Press Club  while, the 12-party alliance will begin out a procession from in front of the Vijay Nagar Water Tank at noon.

AB Party will hold a press conference at Vijay Nagar party office at 3:30 pm.

Amid police obstruction the BNP and its allies held processions carrying black flags in several districts on Friday to press home the same demands.

Ignoring police obstruction, BNP leaders and activists staged a black flag march in Jessore demanding the withdrawal of cases against BNP leaders including Khaleda Zia and the dissolution of parliament.

On Friday at around 2:00pm, the procession began from the premises of the party office in Laldighi in the city on the initiative of the district BNP.

Khulna Divisional Acting Organizing Secretary Anindya Islam Amit along with BNP leaders and activists of 8 upazilas of the district participated in the procession under the leadership of district BNP convener Prof Nargis Begum.

The procession was stopped by the police when it left the party office premises and went in front of Hotel Hasan International in the city.

Meanwhile, BNP leaders and activists marched chanting slogans ignoring the police. The procession went around Maikpatti, Chaurasta of the city and ended at the party office.

At 11:00am in Rangamati, a black flag procession started from the Banrupastha district BNP office and paraded various roads of the city and ended at the Banrupa taxi station.

After the procession, a short rally was held under the chairmanship of District BNP President Dipan Talukdar.

At this time, the speakers said that ignoring the demands of the people the AL has written the worst black chapter in the country by illegally electing the current government.

A procession was brought out from the Sirajganj Islamia Govt College ground and went around various roads of the area and ended at the Islamia College ground.  The black flag march was held as part of the central programme.
