Four people including two women were killed and four others injured in separate road accidents in three districts- Gaibandha, Chapainawabganj and Rajshahi, on Friday.
GAIBANDHA: Two people were killed and four others injured as a private car ploughed through a roadside fish market in Gobindaganj Upazila of the district on Friday evening.
The accident took place in Dharmapur Bazaar area under the upazila at around 6:30 pm.
The deceased were identified as Haren Das, 45, son of Naren Das, and Pratap Das, 30, son of Mahendra Chandra. Both of them were fish traders of the market and residents of Dharmapur area in the upazila.
According to local sources, a speedy Gaibandha-bound private car from Nakaihaat area ploughed into the market and ran over several people after its driver lost control over the steering of the vehicle in the evening, which left six people critically injured.
Locals then rescued the injured and rushed them to Gobindaganj Upazila Health Complex, where Haren and Pratap succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.
Later on, the physicians of the health complex referred three injured persons to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated further.
Being informed, police recovered the bodies of the deceased.
However, the law enforcers have seized the private car.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gobindaganj Police Station (PS) Shamsul Alam Shah confirmed the incident, adding that filing of a case is underway in this regard.
GOMASTAPUR, CHAPAINAWABGANJ: An elderly woman, who was injured in a road accident in Gomastapur Upazila of the district on Friday morning, succumbed to her injuries at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in the afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Rawshan, 80, wife of late Serafat Ali, a resident of Heropara area under Rohanpur Union in the upazila.
According to local sources, a speedy motorbike hit the woman in the area on Friday morning while she was crossing a road, which left her critically injured.
Critically injured Rawshan was then rescued and taken to the RMCH, where she succumbed to her injuries in the afternoon while undergoing treatment.
RMCH physicians confirmed the death matter, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this regard.
RAJSHAHI: A woman was killed after a truck ran over her in Charghat Upazila of the district on Friday afternoon.
The accident took place in Fultala area under the upazila at around 3:30 pm.
The deceased was identified as Rezia Begum, 35, wife of Habibur Rahman, a resident of Arani Khorddhabausa Village under Bagha Upazila in the district.
According to police and local sources, Rezia Begum was heading towards her parents house in Basudebpur Village in the afternoon riding on her husbands van. On the way, a speedy truck hit the van in Fultala area of Charghat Upazila at around 3:30 pm, which left her dead on the spot.
Being informed, police rushed in and have recovered the body from the scene.
Charghat PS OC ASM Siddqur Rahman confirmed the incident, adding that legal action is underway in this regard.
