Chattogram Challengers secured their fourth straight victory in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) defeating the home team Sylhet Sixers by eight wickets at the International Cricket Stadium on Monday, claiming the top spot on the table.

SSs won the toss and elected to bat first. The openers, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mohammad Mithun continued their disappointing form and got out for five and one run respectively.

Irish all-rounder Harry Tector and local batter Zakir Hasan however, steadied the ship countering the Challengers bowlers.

Tector fell five runs short of a fifty facing 42 balls hitting two boundaries and an over-boundary. Zakir on the contrary, was dismissed for 31 off 26 with four boundaries and an over-boundary.

Zimbabwean recruit Ryan Burl and Ariful Haque further accelerated, helping Sylhet post a decent total of 137 runs for four wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Burl remained unbeaten amassing 34 off 29 with four boundaries while Ariful was not out on 17 off 12 with one four and a six.

Bilal Khan of Chattogram took fiery form with the ball, snatching three wickets for 24 runs and Nihaduzzaman picked up the rest.

Chasing 138 runs, Challengers reached the target convincingly losing two wickets with 14 balls to spare. Opener Avishka Fernando got out cheaply for 17 runs but another opening batter Tanzid Tamim, one-down batter Tom Bruce and the man at four Shahadat Hossain Dipu made the chase look pretty ordinary.

Tamim Jr piled up 50 off 40 with three rope-kissing shots and two massive sixes while Bruce remained unbeaten on 51 off 44 hitting as many big shots as Tamim Jr. Meanwhile, Dipu wrapped up the game remaining not out on 13 off 11 with one boundary.

Tector and Tanzim Hasan Sakib shared the wickets between them.

Bilal Khan of Challengers was named the Player of the Match for his brilliant spell.
