BNP to continue street protest until democracy restored : Moyeen

BNP Standing Committee Member Abdul Moyeen Khan said on Sunday that, BNP will protest against the government on the street until restore democracy in the country.

Speaking at a discussion meeting at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) organised by the Ziaur Rahman Foundation marking the 88th birth anniversary of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman, he said, "Awami League government has once again established Baksal in the country."

Moyeen said, "On January 7, the people of the country boycotted the dummy election. Awami League failed in Bangladesh politics and was rejected by the people. The people of the country have not compromised in the past, they will not compromise on voting rights and democracy."

"BNP wants to hand over democracy to the people. That is why we are protesting on the streets. The movement will continue until the lost democracy of Bangladesh is brought back," said Moyeen.

He said, "Our movement is not to reinstate the BNP in power. Its not driven by a quest for power or wealth; we aim to bring back the peoples voting rights and restore democracy,"

Mentioning that, BNP wanted to hand over democracy to the people he said, "That is why we are protesting in the streets. The movement will continue until the lost democracy of Bangladesh is brought back."

Regarding the border issue with India, he questioned, "Is there anywhere in the modern world where thousands of people are shot dead on the border?"
