Man killed, 10 injured in Nilphamari clash

A man, who sustained injuries in a clash between two groups at Jaldhaka upazila in Nilphamari district on Monday, died at a hospital in Rangpur early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Aminur Rahman, 35, son of Rahim Uddin, a resident of Majhapara village under Dharmapal union in the upazila.
According to locals, there had been a loggerheads between two groups of Kachidul and Mominur over ownership of a land. As sequel to it, the both groups locked into a fight around 10 am on Monday, leaving 10 people from both groups critically injured.

The injured were taken to Jaldhaka Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor referred several of them, including Aminur Rahman, to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

Later on Tuesday morning, Aminur Rahman succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Jaldhaka Police Station OC Muktarul Alam said being informed, police arrested six persons in this connection and efforts are on to arrest other accused.

Additional police have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order and legal actions would be taken in this regard, added the OC.
