Dense fog disrupts Daulatdia-Paturia ferry services

The authorities of the Daulatdia-Paturia ferry route on Friday stopped all types of boat movement including ferry-launch on the route for dense fog.

According to authority, dense fog started falling in the river from mid night. As time progressed, the intensity of the fog increased. Around 4:30 in the morning, the entire waterway is covered in fog. This causes the waterway marking lights to go out of sight. At that time, the authorities stopped all types of boat movement on the waterway to avoid accidents.
Meanwhile, vehicles crossing the river are stuck in the ghat area. Passengers of the stranded vehicles and those concerned suffered in severe winter.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Daulatdia Ghat Office Assistant Manager Abdur Rahim said that ferry traffic has been stopped from 4:30 am for a temporary period to avoid accidents due to the direction lights of the ferry becoming unclear. However, the ferry service will be resumed after the fog subsides.
