Bangladesh Coast Guard Director General (DG) Rear Admiral Mir Ershad Ali on Saturday said that they have increased vigilance along the Myanmar border to prevent illegal infiltration from Myanmar.

He said they prefer friendly relationships over enmity as per the ideology of Bangabandhu. But amid this ongoing tension with Myanmar, they have increased the security and patrolling on the east coast. He said they are determined not to compromise the country’s maritime security.

The Coast Guard director general told these after paying tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at his mausoleum at Tungipara in Gopalganj on Saturday.
DG Ershad, regarding the Rohingya infiltration, said push-in, push-back is not a solution to the Rohingya crisis.

They need a permanent solution from Myanmar. As per the instructions of the government, they are always on alert to prevent any further Rohingya infiltration.

Earlier, the newly appointed Coast Guard DG stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of the Father of the Nation.

Later, he offered prayer seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and other martyrs who had to embrace martyrdom on the fateful August 15, 1975.
