Military representatives of 11 countries pay tributes to Liberation War Martyrs

Thirteen military officials from 11 friendly countries working in Dhaka, including the Director General (DG) of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), paid homage at the National Martyrs Memorial in Savar on Sunday. Major General Hamidul Haque, DG of the DGFI, led the delegation of military officials in laying wreaths at the memorial.

Thirteen resident Defence/Military Attachés from 11 different countries attended the wreath-laying ceremony at the National Martyrs Memorial in Savar, showing deep respect for those who sacrificed their lives in the Liberation War of 1971. The attendees were Lieutenant Colonel John Dempsey of Australia, Senior Colonel Du Xinsheng of China, Brigadier Manmeet Singh Sabarwal and Colonel Azwan Abdi of Indonesia, Brigadier Soe Nyunt of Myanmar, Brigadier Roshan Shumsher Rana of Nepal, Colonel Mahmoud M. J. Sharawnah of Palestine, Colonel Sergey Viktorovich Naydenov and Lieutenant Colonel Alexey Yurievich Terekhov of Russia, Colonel Erdal ?ahin of Turkiye, Lieutenant Colonel John Crawford Maclellan Scots of the UK, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Eric De Michiei, and Major Ian Leonard of the USA.

The delegation, headed by Major General Hamidul Haque, DG, DGFI, expressed the importance of diplomatic relationships and emphasized the countrys principle of "Friendship towards all, malice towards none" since its independence in 1971. The military representatives paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the great Liberation War in response to the call of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
