Since Bangladesh and India are playing the final of the SAFF Under-19 Womens Championship 2024 today (Thursday) at 6:00pm, the passionate supporters of regional football are now spending every minute wondering if their beloved side will take home the Champions trophy.

This evening at the Shaheed Birshreshtha Sepoy Mustafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur, Dhaka, the best of the best in the South Asian womens age group will be determined.

The captains and coaches of both teams gathered for pictures with the tournament trophy on Wednesday at the team hotel in Dhaka before facing off in the final.

Although they were grinning, they knew that only one would take home the trophy the following day and that it would not be simple.

The host women will not take their opponent lightly, even though Bangladesh just upset India in the first round. Final matches always have a different vibe than prior matches.

Attack is the best defence and in Football, attack is the widely tested formula to keep opponents busy at home and keep their own side intact.

Bangladesh replaced some booters from the striking and mid-departments in the second half of the previous match against India so that some defenders could be deployed.

A packed defence is eye soothing to see but not always an ideal method, especially when you are playing against a team that has footballers who are experienced in playing the Under-17 Womens World Cup.

On Tuesday, India defeated Nepal by a 4-0 margin in its last match of the round and secured a spot in the final. The Indian women were humiliated by the host in a 0-1 match before that.

A 10-0 win over Bhutan in the first match was not enough. So, a win or at least a tie was needed in the last match for India to secure the final.

Bangladesh was already in the final of the tournament following a 1-0 win over India in its second match of the round. In its opening encounter, Bangladesh defeated Nepal 3-1.

Since Bangladesh was already in the final and Bhutan had already been eliminated after losing the first two matches, their final round matchup was just scheduled.

In order to allow the starting XI to rest, Bangladesh used nine players from their reserve bench. The Bangladesh reserve force alone outsmarted Bhutan 4-0, in style.

Today, the home crowd is expected to come in large and cheer for the young women in red and green outfits. Lets hope the booters can do their part too!
