Programmes taken to observe Amar Ekushey in Khulna

KHULNA, Feb 7: District administration has taken elaborate programmes to observe "Amar Ekushey" on February 21 here in a befitting manner.
People from all walks of life and organizations will be allowed to go to the Shaheed Minar premises and to pay tributes in memory of the Language Movement Heroes.
In Khulna City, the observance will begin at one minute past after midnight
on February 20 when Land Minister Naryan Chandra Chanda, MP, will place wreaths at the Shaheed Minar in the citys Shaheed Hadis Park to pay due respect to the Language Movement martyrs.
Later, Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque,
Muktijoddha Sangsad, Khulna Divisional Commissioner, Khulna Metropolitan
Police Commissioner (KMP), Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police of Khulna
Range Police will place wreaths there.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Khondokar Yasir Arefin along with officials of the district and upazila administrations will also place floral wreaths there; other government and non-government departments and organizations will also do the same.
The other programmes of the day include hoisting of national flag at half-
mast atop of all buildings, educational institutions, decoration of the
streets with miniature national and coloured flags inscribed with Bengali
alphabets.
Besides, competitions on drawing, essay writing, rendering
patriotic songs and sports competitions for the school students will be
arranged by Khulna City Corporation.
A discussion meeting followed by cultural programmes will be held in the evening at the Hadis Park.
The district Information Office will screen mobile cinema and showcase posters on the day.
Special Doa will be held at all mosques after Johr Prayer while temples and churches will arrange special prayers on the day. Upazila administrations and other organizations have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the Day in a befitting manner.
The decision was made at a preparatory meeting held at the DC office on Tuesday with DC Khondokar Yasir Arefin in the chair. Superintendent of Khulna Police Mohammad Sayeedur Rahman, Deputy Director of Local Government of Khulna DC office Md Yousup Ali, Additional District Magistrate Md Nazmul Hossain, among others, were also present.
