Four people, including two women, were killed after a pick-up and CNG-run auto rickshaw collided head on at Mirzapur of Tangail on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Luftar Rahman alias Moizuddin, 40, son of Yusuf Mia of Goirabetil village, Rahima Begum, 45, wife of Md Tara Mia, Akash Mia, 30 son of Biddut Mia of Nagor Vatgram, and Nazmul Islam, 34, son of Samez Mia of Noyapara. All of them were passengers of the auto-rickshaw.
Inspector Humayun Kobir, in-Charge of Bashtoil police outpost, said the accident occurred at around 3.4pm on Gorai-Shakhipur regional road in Telipara area of the Bashtoil union of the upazila, when a pick-up from Sokhipur collided head on with the auto-rickshaw, leaving three passengers of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot.
Locals rescued two injured and took them to Mirzapur Kumudini Hospital where doctors declared one dead, he added.
