Berger, NHRDF to hold free training for decorative painters

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the National Human Resource Development Fund (NHRDF) and the Berger Training Institute (BTI) recently, to offer free training to decorative painters.

At the signing ceremony, RehanaPerven, Managing Director and CEO (Additional Charge) and Member (Secretary) of the Industry and Energy Division, Planning Commission was present representing the National Human Resource Development Fund (NHRDF), says a press release.

Mohammad JahirulQuayum, General Manager (Admin and Finance) and Joint Secretary, Finance Division, Ministry of Finance was also present there. Tanzeen Ferdous Alam, Chairman (BTI) and Md Solaiman Mia, Principal (BTI) were present on behalf of the Berger Training Institute (BTI).

Rehana Perven, Managing Director of NHRDF, said, "The necessity for career-oriented and life-oriented education is paramount for a nation to excel in todays competitive global landscape. Government initiatives alone are insufficient; collective efforts are essential. I commend Berger Training Institute for their collaboration. I hope, this NHRDF project will facilitate the creation of skilled workforce in the painting sector, generating employment opportunities domestically and abroad."

Tanzeen Ferdous Alam, Chief Marketing Officer of Berger Paints and Chairman of Berger Training Institute, welcomed the governments initiative to partner with Berger Training Institute, operated by Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, the largest paint company in Bangladesh. He stated, "We sincerely appreciate the governments initiative to collaborate with the Berger Training Institute to provide training in the painting sector for the first time. Additionally, we aim to contribute to the nations overall development by offering training in other painting-related occupations such as wood-coating, marine coating, industrial coating, and automotive body painting, adhering to international standards and in collaboration with the government."

According to the 2022 annual report of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), approximately 1.29 million working individuals in Bangladesh are inactive, with about 18 percent being men and 61 percent women.

The National Human Resource Development Fund (NHRDF) is assisting training institutes in creating skilled workforce by offering financial support to employ these inactive youths and young women.

Following this initiative, the Berger Training Institute, which embarked on its journey in 2016, has provided skill certificates to nearly ten thousand painters after training.

Moreover, it has awarded government certificates to 20 women painters after 360 hours of short-term training and 100 male painters in RPL mode according to the Painting for Construction, Level-II curriculum of the National Skill Development Authority (NSDA).

Berger Training Institute is the only registered institute in the paint industry accredited by the National Skill Development Authority (NSDA).
