At least nine people including five children sustained burn injuries after a gas cylinder exploded at a Rohingya camp in Noakhali’s Bhashan Char on Saturday.
The incident happened at cluster no 81 of the camp in the morning.
Bhasan Char Police Station officer-in-charge Kawsar Alam Bhuiyan said the explosion occurred from leakage from a cylinder, leaving nine people burned.
The burned people were Safi Alam, 12, Robiul, 5, Sohel, 5, Russell, 3, Mobasher, 32, Basir Ullah, 15, Rasmida, 3, Zobaida, 11, and Amena Khatun, 24.
The injured were first taken to Noakhali 250 Bed General Hospital. Later, five of them were transferred to the Chittagong Medical College and Hospital’s (CMCH) burn unit.
