Police arrested nine members of a robber gang along with lethal weapons from Subarnachar upazila in Noakhali district early Sunday.
The arrested were Moslem Uddin, 24, Maruf Hossain Hridoy, 22, Md Sohel, 25, Shahadat Hossain Sagor, 24, Md Mithu, 24, Md Raihan, 22, Nazmul Islam, 25, Mir Sabbir, 22, and Md Shimul, 22.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive in Charbazlul Karim village around 1:00 am and caught them red-handed along with some lethal weapons while they were preparing for a robbery, said Char Jabbar Police Station officer-in-charge Md Rafiqul Islam.
He said some sharp machetes, two grill cutters, two iron rods, two iron pipes, one SS pipe, one rope, and a mini pickup van were seized from their possessions.
Two separate cases were filed against them with the police station in this regard and, later, they were sent to a court on Sunday afternoon, the OC added.
