Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury departed for Kenya on Monday to attend the high-level segment of the sixth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) in Nairobi, representing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
This session of the UNEA will take place under the theme "Effective, inclusive and sustainable multilateral actions to tackle climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution."
It highlights the important inter linkages between the three planetary environmental crises. The UNEA will adopt resolutions and decisions guiding multilateral efforts and environmental protection, according to a release.
The environment minister will actively engage in the high-level segment of the assembly, deliver Bangladeshs statement and showcase the countrys successes in locally-led adaptation while emphasizing the imperative of global solidarity and action.
He will also underscore the importance of national initiatives and ownership in environmental stewardship.
The minister is scheduled to return home on March 3 after attending the event.
