Five people found dead in five districts

Five people including a minor girl and a woman have been found dead in separate incidents in five districts - Bogura, Rangpur, Gazipur, Manikganj and Barishal, in four days.

NANDIGRAM, BOGURA: Police recovered the half-decomposed body of a man from a mustard field in Nandigram Upazila of the district on Tuesday noon.

The identity of the deceased, aged about 40, could not be known yet.

Police sources said locals spotted the half-decomposed body of the man lying on a mustard field beside the Bogura-Natore highway in Singjani area under Burail Union and informed police.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. The body bore no injury marks.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nandigram Police Station (PS) Azamgir Hossain confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are trying to find out the identity of the deceased and the actual reason behind his death would be known after getting the autopsy report.

PIRGACHHA, RANGPUR: Police recovered the body of a minor girl from a pond in Pirgachha Upazila of the district on Monday two days after she went missing.

The body was recovered from a pond of Chalunia Beel in the upazila in the morning.

Deceased Umm Habiba, 7, was the daughter of Abdul Hakim, a resident of Chaluniya Panatipara Village under the upazila.

According to police and locals, Umme Habiba went out of the house at around 10 am on Saturday last. Then, the family members could not find her in all possible places.

Later on, locals spotted the body of the child floating on the water in a pond of Chalunia Beel on Monday morning and informed the matter to police.

On information, police recovered the body from the scene.

Pirgachha PS OC Sushant Kumar Sarker confirmed the incident, adding that the body will be handed over to the deceaseds family members after legal process.

GAZIPUR: Police recovered the body of a young man from Kunia of Gacha area in Sadar Upazila of the district early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Hossain, 20, son of Md Nurunnabi, a resident of Kunia. Ramiz Uddin, sub-inspector (SI) of Gachha PS, said that locals found the body bore stab wounds on its neck, ear and stomach at the Kunia Moktar Sarkar Road in the city at early hours and informed police.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the area at around 1 am and sent it to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. The reason behind the killing could be known immediately.

However, the law enforcers are investigating the matter, the SI added.

MANIKGANJ: Police recovered the slit-throat body of a woman from Dotora Village under Saturia Upazila in the district on Saturday noon.

The deceased was identified as Sharmin Akter, 30, daughter of Abdul Mannan.

Saturia PS OC Safiqul Islam Molla said locals spotted the body of the woman near the boundary wall of Agriculture Institute of the village at around 12:30 pm and informed police.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Manikganj 250-bed General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

The official further said the reason behind the killing could not be known detailed will informed after investigation. However, legal proceedings are underway in this regard, the OC added.

BARISHAL: Police recovered the body of an elderly man from an abandoned room of a madrasa in Wazirpur Upazila of the district on Saturday noon.

The identity of the deceased, aged about 75, could not be known immediately. He was an mentally-imbalanced man and used to roam here and there.
 
Police sources said locals saw the body of the man at an abandoned room of an Ebtedayee madrasa near Dakshin Morakathi Jame Mosque in Bamrail Union of the upazila at around 12:30 pm and informed police.

Wazirpur Model PS OC Md Jafar Ahmed confirmed the incident.
