The Grand Finale of the 10th Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is set to take place today at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

Comilla Victorians and Fortune Barishal will battle for the crown of the rigorous franchise cricket event of the country.

The match will commence at 7:00 pm (BST).

Defending champions Comilla are optimistic about lifting the trophy for the 5th time and the 3rd consecutive juncture. The Victorians outfit participated in the event in 2015 and came out victorious in their maiden voyage. They also emerged as Champions in 2018, 2022 and 2023.

Barishal, on the contrary, reached the final in the first-ever edition of the BPL in 2012 and lost to Dhaka Gladiators. They played finals in 2015 and 2022 as well but remained chokers losing on both occasions.

They are desperate to claim the trophy winning their fourth final today.

Victorians reached the playoffs as the second-leading side and demolished Rangpur Riders in the 1st Qualifier by six wickets to confirm their place in the final.

Meanwhile, Barishal had to fight hard to qualify for the knockout stages but became stronger in the playoffs defeating Chattogram Challengers by seven wickets in the eliminator, followed by a victory over Rangpur Riders by six wickets in the 2nd Qualifier to reach the finals.

Victorians suffered two defeats in their last five matches but Barishal won four out of the last five games.

Among the two group stage meetings, Victorians won by four wickets during the first encounter, while Barishal took revenge with a six-wicket victory in the following engagement.

Tamim Iqbal, the FBs skipper, is the leading scorer of the event so far with 453 runs, while Tawhid Hridoy of CVs is breathing down Tamims neck with 447 runs.

So, the final is going to be a race between Tamim and Hridoy as well. Besides, Mushfiqur Rahim of Barishal and Liton Das of Comilla are among the top five run-getters.

From a bowling point of view, Mohammad Saifuddin of Barishal is the only bowler among the teams to feature in the top five wicket-takers with 14 scalps next to his name. But Taijul Islam and Obed McCoy have also been in superb form.

Their key game-changers are their all-rounders Kyle Mayers, Mehidy Miraz and Soumya Sarkar. Proteas hard-hitting David Miller adds further strength to their batting order.

Victorians on the other hand, have recruited a number of high-profile foreign players including Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Johnson Charles and Moeen Ali.

Besides, Liton and Hridoy are accompanied by local stars like Jaker Ali, Mustafizur Rahman, Tanvir Islam, Mahidul Islam Ankon, Rishad Hossain and youngster Rohanat Doullah Borson.

The SBNCS is known for its unpredictable nature, but recent BPL matches have seen a number of high-scoring games. The weather forecast shows no ominous signs for interrupted cricket, and the toss-winning captain may prefer to chase considering recent records at this very venue.
