The body of journalist Ovisruti Shastri has been kept at the morgue of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital till Saturday.

The body will be handed over to her family after DNA test.

Ovisruti  Shastri, a former journalist of The Report.live, died in the devastating fire at Green Cozy Cottage on Bailey Road in the capital on Thursday night.
Her father Shablul Alam Sabuj came to the burn institute morgue on Saturday morning to take her body for burial.

But the difficulties arose as he found that her daughter’s name Brishti Khatun has been enlisted as Ovisruti Shastri.

Shablul said he as well as his family members followed Islam and her name would not be Ovisruti Shastri. Brishti was his elder daughter.

He said his family members have not any information regarding conversion of her religion.

Police on Saturday morning detained Shablul for fraudulence but after the confirmation, they released him, he added.

She hailed from Bonagram of Betbaria union of Khoksa upazila of Kushtia district. Brishti Khatun (Ovisruti  Shastri) was a student of philosophy at Eden Women`s College in the capital and lived at a mess opposite to the CID office at Mouchak in Dhaka. Along with her studies, she was engaged in the profession of journalism.

According to the educational certificates, birth certificate, and NID cards, the deceased is known as Bristi Khatun, said union parishad member Abdul Mojid of ward no. 7 of Betbaria union.

Betbaria UP chairman and head teacher of Bongram High School Shafikul Islam said Bristi completed her SSC from the school in 2015.

She mentioned her religion as Hindu on the resume that was submitted at her workplace. Colleagues of the Ovisruti knew her as a Hindu.

Meanwhile, Utpal Saha, president of Ramna Kali Mandir committee, said Ovisruti visited the mandir regularly.

He said the Mandir authority has appealed to the officer-in-charge of Ramna police station and Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka for the DNA test of Ovisruti to determine her identity.
