Causes of Bailey Road fire would become clear next week: CID

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police has collected more than 15 evidence from Green Cozy Cottage building at Bailey Road in the capital where a devastating fire at night on February 29 last left over 46 people dead.

The evidence collected have been sent to the laboratory for examination. The causes behind the fire would become clear by the next week.
It was stated by CID Chief and Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Ali Mia while addressing a press conference at the CID office in Dhaka early Thursday (March 7) afternoon.

The CID chief said the devastating fire broke out at Green Cozy Cottage at Bailey Road in the capital. After the Fire Service doused the fire, several CID teams worked there. CID's forensic, DNA and chemical teams worked there. The evidence was sent to the CID's laboratory after collecting evidence. "We're expecting to get the report within a day or two. Then we will be abel to tell how the fire had originated and what was behind the fire," he said.

Mohammad Ali Mia said: "We've learnt priliminary that fire had originated from gas cylinders. Chemical evidence is also being examined. We are also examining whether there was any explosive substances. We're awaiting for the test reports of the evidence and then we'll be able to say why the fire had broken out."
