Bailey Road fire originates from Chumuk Restaurant

Arrested Chumuk Restaurant's owner Anwarul Huq on Thursday said the fire at Green Cozy Cottage multi-storeyed building at Bailey Road in the capital on February 29 last had originated from his restaurant.

While submitting his confessional statement to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court in Dhaka on Thursday (March 7), he said the fire had first broke out in his restaurant. Then it had spread to the entire building.
The police offcials who are investigating the case said two owners of Chumuk shop -- Anwarul Huq and Shafiqur Rahman said the fire had originated from Chumuk Restaurant first. Their employees had tried to douse the fire using an extinguisher at the shop.

Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) from the Ramna Police Station.
