A
Rajshahi court on Monday sentenced two people, including a youth girl, to life term imprisonment for killing an SSC candidate in 2022.
The judge of Rajshahi Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 Mohiduzzaman delivered the verdict against Moin Annaf Mahbub Alam, 20, and Habiba Kumkum Oishi, 19, on Monday afternoon.
The court also accused two accused as the allegations brought out against them was not proven.
According to the prosecution, the victim Sunny, 17, who supposed to sat on Secendory School Certificate held in 2022, was returning home from Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in the night of July 3, 2022. On the way, some miscreants waylaid him and took to Hetem Kha area where around 14 to 15 people were waiting for them.
At that time, they attacked Sunny with lethal weapons, leaving him critically injured.
Locals rushed him to RMCH where the physicians declared him dead.
Later, the victim's father Rafiqul Islam lodged a
murder case with Boalia Police Station accusing nine people. Among the accused, four are being trialed in a children's court as they are underage.
After hearing witnesses and examining evidences, the court delivered the punishment in the afternoon.
