Two children allegedly died from wrong treatment in separate incidents in two districts- Shariatpur and Narayanganj, in four days.
SHARIATPUR: A three-month-old boy reportedly died from wrong treatment in the district on Wednesday night.
The incident took place in Shariatpur Sadar Hospital at around 9:30 pm.
Deceased Musafir was the son of Razib Sheikh of Ward No. 3 Charpalang area under Shariatpur Municipality.
The deceaseds family sources said the childs parents admitted Musafir to the hospital at night as he was suffering from cold and stomach pain. Dr Sharif-ur Rahman of the hospital prescribed a medicine at that time. After taking the medicine, Musafirs condition became more critical. The matter was informed to Dr Sharif-ur Rahman, but he did not show any interest of seeing the patient despite of calling him several times.
Later on, the child died there. Soon after the incident, the on-duty physician went into hiding.
While contacted him over mobile phone, Dr Sharif denied the allegation.
Residential Medical Officer of the hospital Dr Mitu Akhter said, legal action would be taken after investigation.
Meanwhile, a three-member probe body was formed to investigate the matter.
NARAYANGANJ: A minor boy reportedly died from wrong treatment at a hospital in the district.
The incident took place at Al-Hera General Hospital at Khanpur in the city on Sunday.
Deceased Mostakim, 8, was the son of Ramjan Ali of Boktaboli Madhyanagar area in Sadar Upazila.
The deceaseds family sources said Mostakim was admitted to the hospital for a tonsil operation on Saturday last. After the operation, the family members found the child dead on Sunday morning.
The deceaseds father said Dr Abdullah Al Mamun did the operation and went into hiding since the morning. He demanded justice over the incident.
Sub-Inspector of Narayanganj Sadar Police Station Abdul Quddus Mridha said, legal action would be taken if any complaint is received from the deceaseds family.
