544 killed, 867 injured in 583 accidents in Feb

At least 544 people were killed and 867 injured in 583 road accidents across the country in February. Among the deceased, 79 were women and 83 children.

Road Safety Foundation revealed the information in a press briefing in the capital on Wednesday. It made the report based on data from nine national dailies, seven online news portals, and electronic media.
According to the statistics, 206 people died in 187 motorcycle accidents, which is 37.86 per cent of the total deaths. Deaths from motorcycle accidents comprise 32.07per cent of the deaths.

Meanwhile, 109 pedestrians were killed in the accident, which is 20.03 per cent of the total fatalities.

A total of 74 drivers and his associates were killed, which is 13.60 per cent in the road crashes.  Besides, during the period, six people were killed and two were injured in four waterway accidents. A total of 28 were killed and 66 were injured in 34 railway accidents.
