Two electrocuted in Shariatpur, Dinajpur

A minor girl and a young man were electrocuted in separate incidents in two districts - Shariatpur and Dinajpur, on Friday and Saturday.

SHARIATPUR: A minor child was electrocuted in Sadar Upazila of the district on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Sumaia, 4, daughter of Manik Kaji, a resident of Kaji Kandi area under Binodpur Union in the upazila.

According to local sources, the child came in contact with an electric wire in the morning while she was walking in a room in the house, which left her critically injured.

Sensing the matter, the family members rescued her and took to a hospital, where she was declared dead by the on-duty doctor.

Officer-in-Charge of Palang Model Police Station (PS) Mejbah Uddin Ahmed confirmed the incident.

NAWABGANJ, DINAJPUR: A young man was electrocuted while connecting a wifi router at home in Nawabganj Upazila of the district on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Rakibul Hasan Rabbi, 24, son of Anamul Hoque, a resident of Malarpara Village in the upazila.

Police and local sources said Rabbi came in contact with an electric wire while he was connecting a wifi router in the house at around 10:30 am. He died on the spot.

Sub-inspector of Nawabganj PS Nuruzzaman confirmed the incident, adding that an unnatural death case filed with the PS in this regard.
