Five people were killed and three others injured after a bus collided with a microbus at a place under Muksudpur upazila in Gopalganj district on Wednesday morning.
The accident happened at about 11:30am on Chhagolchira-Domarkandi road of the Dhaka-Barishal highway.
It was learnt that Dhaka-bound passenger bus belonging to 'Global Paribahan' from Barishal collided with a Barishal-bound microbus near Chhagolchira Bus Stand, killing five microbus passengers including its driver on board," said Maksudpur Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Ashraful Alam.
Police with the help of Fire Service members recovered the bodies.
Bhanga Highway Police's SI Noman and Madaripur Fire Service's deputy director Shafiqul Islam confirmed the accident news.
One of the deceased was identified as Salma Zaman, 35, a resident of Pallabi area at Mirpur in Dhaka.
The accident also critically injured other three passengers of the microbus moving to Tekerhat from Dhaka.
On information, police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies, said deputy director of Madaripur Fire Service and Civil Defense Department Shafiqul Islam.
Police and local people said the bumper of the microbus got crushed in the accident.
