On his first match in this season of Dhaka Premier League (DPL), Mashrafe Bin Mortaza claimed 5-19 to guide Legends of Rupganj to a six-wicket win over Gazi Group Cricketers at BKSP-3 ground today.
This was Legends fourth straight victory in the league. Mashrafe was absent in Legends first three matches and his participation in fact in this DPL was in limbo due to his political commitment.
Mominul Haque who led the side in the first three matches then joined national team for a Test series against Sri Lanka, creating leadership void.
Mashrafe however decided to take part and made a history on his first appearance.
Thanks to his five-wicket haul, Legend bowled Gazi Group out for just 136 in 35.4 overs.
Legend reached 137-4 in 28 overs to win the game with Chowdhury M Rizwan making highest 47 not out with three fours and four sixes.
Mohammedan Sporting Club thrashed Partex Sporting Club by four wickets for their third victory in fourth match at BKSP-4 while Shinepukur registered their second victory when they crushed Gazi Tyers Cricket Academy by 73 runs at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah in the days other two matches. —BSS
