Meghna Trawler Capsize

Death toll raises to three

KISHOREGANJ, Mar 23:  The death toll from Meghna trawler capsize rose to three as Fire Service diving team recovered two more bodies on Saturday afternoon during the search operation. They were constable Sohel Ranas wife Moushumi and seven-year-old daughter Mahmuda. Superintendent of Bhairab police in Kishoreganj Md Russel Sheikh confirmed this.

Bhairab Upazila Health and Family Planning officer Dr Bulbul Ahmed said the identity of another woman is known on Saturday. She was Subarna, 40, from Bhairab. The divers are continuing their rescue operation for the six people, who went missing after a trawler capsized in the Meghna river in Bhairab upazila of Kishoreganj district on Friday.
Bhairab Highway Police Station OC Saju Miah said constable Sohel Rana went to Ashuganjs Sonarchar Deep village in Brahmanbaria for a visit on Friday by the trawler with his family. All went missing when the trawler overturned.
