Eid advance train ticket sale starts today online

The train tickets for the homegoers will be available from today (Sunday) as the Bangladesh Railway will start selling advance train tickets ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr on April 10 subject to moon sighting.

According to the Bangladesh Railway announcement, all tickets of trains will be sold through its website (https://eticket.railway.gov.bd) and mobile app from 8am on Sunday.

The tickets of April 3 will be sold on Sunday (March 24) while tickets for April 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 will be sold on tomorrow (March 25) and March 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30 respectively.

Earlier, Bangladesh Railways Director General (Additional Charge) Sardar Shahadat Ali revealed the ticket sale plan at a press conference at Rail Bhaban in the capital on Wednesday (March 20).

He informed that all tickets will be available online. The sale of tickets for trains bound for the western zone will start at 8am while sale of tickets for east-bound trains will begin from 2pm.

He said that in the previous Eids, 5-day tickets were sold, but this time the railways will sell 7-day advance tickets for the first time. 100 percent of tickets will be sold online so that passengers get tickets without any hassle.

The sale of return train tickets for April 13 will start from April 3.

To ensure sale of train tickets smother and free and fair manner, the railway authority along with the law enforcement agencies have started taking actions against those involved in black-marketing.

A total of 11 persons including four persons directly involved in online train ticket selling process were already arrested. The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested them after getting evidence of their alleged involvement.
