Dear Sir

Bangladesh celebrates 26th March as its Independence Day as it commemorates the countrys declaration of independence from Pakistan in the year 1971. It also marks the start of the Liberation War of Bangladesh. The war continued for nine months, and Bangladesh emerged as an Independent Nation afterward. The struggle started as there were socio-economic, cultural, and political disparities between East and West Pakistan.

What ignited us was the Pakistan militarys brutal crackdown on Bangali nationalists, which further led to atrocities and a flat-out genocidal attempt. Bangladeshs founding leader, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared independence on March 26, 1971, which sparked a fierce resistance against the Pakistan forces. After the war ended on December 16th, 1971, Bangladesh emerged as an independent nation. The victory was supported by an Indian intervention.

Bangladeshs Independence Day is observed with patriotic zeal, flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades, and tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of this nation. The day serves as an evergreen reminder of the nations struggle for sovereignty and the spirit of the Bangalis. We must educate every generation about this as everyone must know about our history, our sacrifices, and everything that led to this independence that we enjoy.
