The authorities of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia observed 54th Independence Day and National Day on the campus to pay tributes to the martyrs in a befitting manner.
Marking the day, IU vice-chancellor Professor Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam and Pro vice-chancellor Professor Dr Mahbubur Rahman hoisted the national flag and the university flag atop respectively, of the university administrative building at 10:00am.
Around 10:30 am, the teachers, officers, staff and students of the university brought out a colorful procession led by the VC Dr Salam. After parading the main roads of the campus, the rally ended at the university central monument. In the rally, treasurer Professor Dr Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan, acting registrar H M Ali Hasan, deans, chairman and teachers of different departments and activists of many political, voluntary and cultural organizations also took part in a joyous manner. IU VC, pro-VC, treasurer and acting registrar placed floral wreath from the university authorities while different organizations including IU Teachers Association, Bangabandhu Parishad, Bangabandhu Parishad teacher’s unit, Shapla Forum, IU BCL unit, different halls, departments, IU Journalists Association, IU Rover Scout Group also placed floral wreath and offered prayer to pay respect to the three million martyrs and valiant sons who lied down their lives during the war of liberation.
Later, a Dua-Mahfil was held at the university central mosque after Dhuhar prayer.
