Opposition BNP-backed elected president of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon has been requested to refrain from taking over the charge.

In a letter on Wednesday (March 27), pro-BNP Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum requested Barrister Khokon and three other elected office-bearers to refrain from taking over their charges.
The letter was signed by Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum president and former attorney general AJ Mohammad Ali and secretary genetal Barrister Kaiser Kamal. The copy of the letter was sent to the BNP Secretary General and Senior Joint Secretary General.

The letter sent to Mahbub Uddin Khokon and three others stated that like the previous two years, the ruling party had resorted to unprecedented vote rigging and announced fabricated results. Even, two Awami League backed candidates -- first Nahid Sultana Juthi and then Shah Manzurul Huq -- were announced winners to the post of secretary. The outsider terrorists belonging to the ruling party had assulted lawyers and snatched the ballot papers carrying out attacks on the SCBA auditorium immediately after the election. Though the clash took place between the supporters of two Awami League candidates for the SCBA secretary post, a salaried law officer of the government filed a false criminal case against Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Panel's secretary candidate and three other lawyers at Shahbag Police Station.

The BNP-backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya panel won four posts including that of the president in four posts, out of 14 posts in this year's election.
