A Chapainawabganj court has sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment in a drugs case filed in 2020.
Senior Session Judge of Chapainawabganj Md Adeeb Ali announced the verdict in presence of the convict.
The court also fined the convict of Tk 50,000, in default, he has to suffer two years more in jail.
The convicted was Raihan Ali alias Nayan, 26, son of Monirul Islam of Chandpur village under Shahbajpur union of Shibganj upazila in the district.
Two others Shahriar Kamal and Monirul Islam were acquitted as the charges against them were not proved.
According to the prosecution, on December 15, 2020, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) during a raid arrested Raihan with 1.48 kgs of heroin from Kagmari village under Shahbajpur union of Shibganj upazila.
But two others fled away in that time.
Next day Nayeb Subedar Renu Mia of BGB filed a case with Shibganj thana.
Investigating Officer (IO) of the case Sub-inspector Zinnatul Islam of Shibganj thana submitted charge sheet accusing three persons to the court on January 23, 2021.
