Extension of the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday by one more day has been recommended by the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order to make the journeys of homebound people free from hassle.

After holding a meeting in the conference room of the Ministry of Home Affairs at the secretariat in Dhaka on Sunday, Minister for Liberation War Affairs minister and chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order AKM Mozammel Huque told reporters that the Cabinet Committee has recommended one more holiday on April 9.
The minister said the recommendation would be placed at Monday's cabinet meeting to decide whether the holiday can be extended by one day or not.

"If Eid-ul-Fitr falls on April 11, then the people will get only one day to go home. Therefore, traffic congestion may increase, which will increase the sufferings of people. So, we have recommended whether April 9 can be declared as a holiday," he added.
