Govt allocates over 858 tonnes rice before Eid in Manikganj

MANIKGANJ, April 1: The government has allocated 858.7 metric tons of rice for 85,604 poor and distressed families under the Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Fitr in all the seven upazilas and two municipalities of the district.

Under the programme, 14,628 vulnerable families in Manikganj sadar upazila, 16,285 families in Singair upazila, 14,582 families in Daulatpur upazila, 8,286 families in Saturia upazila, 9,956 families in Shibalaya upazila, 7,468 families in Harirampur upazila and 6,983 families in Ghior upazila and 4,621 families in Manikganj Municipality and 3,081 families in Singair Municipality will get the rice in phases for celebrating the Eid.

To celebrate the Eid festival with festivity, each of the families will get 10 Kilograms of rice free of cost, District Relief and Rehabilitation Office sources said on Monday.    —BSS
