Two electrocuted in Satkhira, Sherpur

Two men were electrocuted in separate incidents in two districts - Satkhira and Sherpur, in two days.
SATKHIRA: A farmer was electrocuted in Debhata Upazila of the district on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Golam Rasul, 45, a resident of Chandpur Village in the upazila.
Relatives of the deceased said that Golam Rasul came in contact with a live wire set up for rat control while he was working in his paddy field near his house in the afternoon, which left him critically injured.
Locals, later, rescued him and took to Debhata Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared Golam Rasul dead.
Being informed, police recovered the body and handed it over to the deceaseds family as no written complaint was lodged in this regard.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Debhata Police Station (PS) Sheikh Mahmud Hossain confirmed the incident.
NALITABARI, SHERPUR: A youth was electrocuted while being chased by a herd of wild elephants in Nalitabari Upazila of the district early Saturday.
The incident took place in Nakugau Garo Hill area near the Indian border of the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Usman Ali, 23, son of Jamal Uddin, a resident of the area.
Locals said a herd of wild elephants entered the village at early hours and damaged paddy fields. Later on, Usman Ali along with other farmers chased the elephants to save their paddy fields.
Then a chase and a counter-chase took place between the villagers and the elephants. At one stage, Osman came in contact with a live electric wire of a generator set up on a field, which left him critically injured.
Locals rescued him and took him to Nalitabari Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared the youth dead.
Being informed, police recovered the body and handed it over to his family without autopsy upon their request.
Nalitabari PS OC Manirul Islam Bhuiyan confirmed the incident, adding that an unnatural death case was filed with the PS in this regard.
