Stocks extend gaining streak

Country's both the bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)—on Thursday witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 20.05 points or 0.35 per cent to settle at 5,796.12. Two other indices also closed higher. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 0.79 point to finish at 2,014.93 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) rose 9.24 points to close at 1,266.41.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, increased to Tk 4367.52 million on the country's premier bourse which was Tk 4339.65 million at the previous session of the week, reports BSS.
 
Of the 397 issues traded, 222 advanced, 113 declined and 62 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

MALEKSPIN was the most-traded stock, followed by SPCERAMICS, AIL, CENTRALPHL and LOVELLO.
 
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also edged higher with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI- rising 80.41 points to settle at 16,614.47 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX- gaining 53.19 points to close at 9993.84.

Of the issues traded, 65 declined, 97 advanced and 29 issues remained unchanged on the CSE trading floor.
